Mason Murnaghan

Mason can now successfully climb all the way up the stairs. When standing he lets go of what he is using to steady himself, and stands independently. If entertained he will now clap in response or when we say ‘Yeah!’.

After surviving his first blizzard, MJ suffered from a stomach virus. Once he regained his appetite his new favorite is now Cheerios. He is also capable of holding his own bottle. His favorite night time past time is taking a bath. He likes to splash which is a good thing because he just started swim lessons.

Baby’s first Christmas was great. Even with all those new toys MJ still goes after Tyler’s. He can he climb the stairs and when he’s standing up he has started letting go for a few seconds.

MJ’s first word was MOM, accompanied by several new babbling sounds. Everything MJ sees goes directly into his mouth. He enjoys puffs and sippy cups. If someone is eating in front of him he watches like a hawk until you share with him.

MJ enjoyed his first Thanksgiving dinner this month. With the emergence of a second lower tooth, we thought he could handle a little taste of turkey. We have added meats to his diet and he’s eating third level dinners, subsequently at his doctor’s visit he weighed 23.6lbs and measured 27.75in.

The crib had to be lowered because Mason is becoming so mobile. He can pull up to the standing position and has started climbing. He can now officially crawl all over the house.

We’ve hit the six month milestone, and what a month! MJ dressed as a pirate for his first Haloween. For fun he and Tyler now wrestle on the floor together.

On a sad note, MJ had to visit the hospital where he was diagnosed with the onset of pneumonia. Luckily, he recoverd within the week. Since then his appetite has definitely increased, it must be all the moving around. Mason is now crawling and sitting independently.

Another doctors visit this month with new stats: 20 lbs. 8.5 oz. and 27 inches long. Sadly Mason had his first cold this month. He has been bouncing away in his walker and he is now in a regular car seat.

MJ is learning to entertain himself in various ways. He likes to take his ninny in and out fo his mouth, touch his toes and play with his toys. No matter what he loves putting stuff in his mouth. If all else fails, he calls for ‘Mom’.

MJ is eating a veriety of foods including: oatmeal, peas, green beans and carrots. He likes to blow bubbles to make us laugh, and he’s putting his hands in his mouth constantly.

On Sept 11th Mason rolled over for the first time. We also discovered that he can be quite ticklish and he is starting to respond to peek-a-boo.

The latest stats from his checkup are: 16 lbs 13 oz, and 24 in. The poor little guy got a round of shots too. We celebrated his entrance into our family when he was baptized on July 26th, Aunt Dona and Uncle Sean stood as godparents.

MJ definitely has good head control and can focus on a baby Sesame video. On August 8th he rolled over from his tummy to his back for the first time. He can also lock up his legs and stand. It must be the seven ounce feedings and the addition of rice to his diet.

At MJ’s 5 week check up he weighed in at 13 lbs 3 oz and 22.75 in. Our favorite moments this month are his first smiles and coos. Since he is beginning to interact more while on his back he’s staying awake longer. This also means he sleeps for longer stretches of time – even in his crib.

MJ met some very important people in his life this month – Aunt Dona and the Kenna family. This little boy sure does get around – he dangled his feet in the ocean, saw the animals at the zoo, and took a dip in the pool.

After some issues with spitting up, we switched formulas and now MJ is up to a steady 5 ounces. He is already holding up his head on his own.

We haven’t wasted any time getting MJ out of the house, he has been on his first trip to the boardwalk, frequent walks in the park, and his first portrait sitting.

Mason has graduated to 4oz of formula on a regular basis, he hasn’t gone longer than 3 hours between feedings.  He likes to sleep a lot though.  MJ really responds to singing whether by Mommy or Tyler.
